Neb. teacher on leave in wake of sex scandal

Associated Press - April 16, 2009 12:25 PM ET

BLOOMFIELD, Neb. (AP) - The Bloomfield high school math teacher arrested last week after being accused of a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl has been placed on leave.

Bloomfield Community Schools superintendent Robert Marks says 29-year old John Hoffman is still under contract with the school through this year. However, Marks say Hoffman was placed on administrative leave on the advice of the school's attorney.

Marks said Hoffman will not return to the school until the case is resolved.

Hoffman was arrested Friday by Nebraska State Patrol troopers on suspicion of sexual assault of a child.
