OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Four schools in northeast Nebraska join hundreds across the nation in closing because of concerns about the spread of swine flu.
In Madison, 540 students of the two public schools stayed home today, as did 56 from the town's Catholic grade school. Thirteen miles away, the 593-student Norfolk Middle School is closed.
Administrators in Madison and Norfolk expect the schools to reopen Monday.
St. Leonard's Catholic School in Madison is keeping its 56 students home today even though none has shown signs of flu-like illness.
Head teacher Scott Olson said students from the Madison public schools go to St. Leonard's for religious education classes, so the school was closed for disinfecting as a precaution.
