Update 5/8/09:

We talked to Kent on the phone this morning. He sounds like he's in good spirits, although it's obvious that he's taking pain medication. The Monday afternoon car accident resulted in injuries to his hip, knee, foot and hand; all on the left side. The hip surgery on Monday evening seems to have been successful according to Kent. The hip is back in place. He had hand surgery on Thursday afternoon. He still needs some work done on his knee and foot, but Kent said they won't be doing those in the immediate future. They want to wait for some of the swelling and bruising to go away. So he's finished w/surgery for the time being. He will try to get up and walk as soon as he can, but he's likely going to be in the hospital for at least a few more days.

Kent did report that his surgeons have had to use a few units of blood during his surgery. And he pointed out that it's a good reason to participate in the NTV blood drive coming up this Monday, May 11th. Noon-6pm at the YMCA's in Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney.

Kent and his family are very grateful for all of the e-mail, cards, letters and prayers that our viewers have shared. It means a lot to him.

Update 5/7/09:

Kent is undergoing surgery for his hand Thursday afternoon. They also found that he has a cracked left heel bone. However, he has been released from ICU. Thanks to everyone for your kinds words for Kent.

Tuesday 5/5/09:

NTV's Chief Forecaster is still hospitalized with injuries from a Monday afternoon car accident. The accident occured around 3 p.m. on Highway 6 and 34, about a mile west of Axtell.

The vehicle Boughton was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck. He suffered injuries to the hip, hand, and knee. The semi-driver was not injured. Seat belt use and airbags are credited with preventing further injury.

The Air Care Helicopter transported Boughton from the accident scene to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He underwent surgery on the hip that last late into the night. Boughton is currently in intensive care and cannot receive visitors. However, he is expected to make a full recovery.
