BURLINGTON, Kan. (AP) - Authorities say two eastern Kansas men have been found dead near the John Redmond Reservoir in Coffey County.
Sheriff's officials said the two men had been paddle boating in a flooded area near the reservoir before they were reported missing at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. About a half hour later, rescuers found the bodies of 83-year-old Eugene Lang of Leroy and 66-year-old Dean Estle of Burlington.
A sheriff's department news release said family members called deputies after finding the small fiberglass craft unoccupied in the water. The bodies were found in seven feet of water near the shore of the lake, a few miles northwest of Burlington.
