HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - The Reno County Museum is closing its doors until September because of a broken air-conditioning system and floors sagging under the weight of heavy artifacts.
The Hutchinson News reported on its Web site Monday that the shutdown takes effect June 8. That's when artifacts on exhibit will be removed from the uncooled sections of the museum to areas where the air conditioning continues to work.
The museum staff and Reno County Historical Society board are seeking offsite storage space for farm implements, old furniture and other heavy artifacts.
The museum is scheduled to reopen Sept. 29.
