FREMONT, Neb. (AP) - Members of a Nebraska community embroiled in a debate over illegal immigration say they are set to launch a campaign that emphasizes unity.
Fremont is the latest Nebraska city to launch the "Nebraska Is Home" campaign. A campaign kickoff is set for Saturday.
The nonprofit Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest has helped develop the campaign that launched late last year in Crete, Grand Island, Schuyler and Seward.
The campaign recognizes the contributions of immigrants. It uses posters and billboards to spread messages of shared values among diverse groups.
Campaign organizers say their goal is to strengthen their communities through conversation, education and welcoming messages.
