An investigation at an Alda bar leads to prostitution charges.
Authorities say two women were enticed into becoming prostitutes, one of them just 17-years-old.
Now a man and woman face three counts related to pandering and child abuse. 50-year-old Gregory Farmer Sr., of Milwaukee, Wisconsin told a judge Friday he works security at The Edge Bar, which is also where 21-year-old Ashley Spates works.
The bar owner told NTV Farmer does not work for him. Larry Davidson said, "I never had a security guard. He's just a customer."
Davidson said "Greg never worked for me. He shoots pool here."
Hall County Chief Deputy Chris Rea said it's part of an ongoing investigation at that bar, located a few miles from Grand Island. Rea said it's only the second prostitution case he's seen.
Reporter's Notes by Steve White:
The judge explained to Farmer and Spates that pandering essentially means enticing someone into prostitution. There are two victims, who were named only by their inititals in court records. One of them is a 17-year-old.
Bond was set at $25,000. Both suspects were ordered not to have contact with the victims. Farmer told the judge he would hire an attorney while Spates was appointed a public defender.
Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. They were ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing July 28.
