What is a compressor station?

• The role of the compressor station is to compress the natural gas, increasing the pressure, and providing the energy to move the natural gas through the pipeline.
• These stations are placed, on average, 70 to 100 miles apart along a single pipeline network.

The number of compressors, or units, in a station may vary depending on the diameter of the pipe and the volume of gas that is being moved.

The Bertrand Compressor Station will be located in Phelps County, Nebraska at milepost 286.8 along the REX-West pipeline route, and will provide 34,210 hp at ISO conditions (5 gas reciprocating units).

Some other high points of the compressor stations are as follows:

• REX Compressor Stations will employ 3-5 permanent employees at each site
• Compressor Stations are designed to operate unmanned (Operations employees will be located at site for operations and maintenance activities during normal working hours)
• REX Compressor Stations are fully automated and are monitored by the gas control group in Lakewood Colorado 24 hours per day, 365 days per year
• Equipment can be operated remotely from the Lakewood Gas Control as needed based on pipeline conditions
• Safety Systems include fire and gas detection systems which is alarm Lakewood Gas Control if problems are detected
• Other safety systems include fully automated valves that can be operated from the Lakewood Gas Control room to isolate and vent gas sources to protect personnel and equipment
