It's every parent's worst nightmare.
A teenage babysitter reported a 3-year-old boy missing around 12:30 a.m. in Beaver City. The sitter had put the boy to bed, and she later fell asleep. When the sitter awoke the boy was nowhere to be found.
The Furnas County Sheriff called in officers from Beaver City, Holbrook, Edison, Arapahoe and Oxford to search for the boy. Many community members also volunteered their time. Furnas County Sheriff Kurt Kapperman estimated about 60 people showed up in this small town to help.
The boy was found shortly after 4 a.m., fast asleep in a vehicle about 5 blocks from where he went missing.
Community Correspondent and Beaver City resident Joanna Chesterman had a heartfelt thanks for all the volunteers.
Sheriff Kapperman said he would also like to thank everyone who volunteered in the search.
