Car pulled from river not owned by missing couple

Associated Press - September 16, 2009 8:54 AM ET

ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) - The search continues for an elderly Atchison couple missing since last Friday.

Atchison County officials say a car pulled from the Missouri River near Atchison Tuesday night did not belong to 74-year-old Bob Black and his wife, 72-year-old Mary Lou Black.

Atchison County authorities got a tip about the submerged car Tuesday and sent a dive team from Lee's Summit, Mo., to recover the car.

Atchison County Undersheriff Larry Myer said early Wednesday that the car was not the Blacks' light blue, four-door Honda Civic with a license tag of AWX 605.

The couple was last seen in their car leaving their house on Friday.
