The tough economy hits home to a central Nebraska living center.
Golden Living Center in Sargent will close it's doors and consolidate with the Broken Bow
facility.
It's in an effort to keep one of the facilities operating. In a statement from the Director of Operations, Anthony Johnson said, "Please know that this was a very difficult decision for us. It was only made after a lot of careful consideration, including preserving our ability to continue providing care at our Golden Living Center in Broken Bow."
Sargent has a population of about 580 people. Golden Living is a big employer for the surrounding community. Many are left searching for a new job.
"We also want to express our gratitude toward our caregivers and the rest of our staff who
make sure our residents receive quality care every day," statement said. "We will be meeting with each of them in the coming weeks to discuss various options with them."

Statement from Anthony Johnson, Director of Operations, Golden Living about Golden LivingCenter - Sargent

After a great deal of review, we have made the decision to consolidate our Golden LivingCenter - Sargent with our nearby sister facility, Golden LivingCenter - Broken Bow.

Please know this was a very difficult decision for us. It was only made after a lot of careful consideration, including preserving our ability to continue providing care at our Golden LivingCenter - Broken Bow. Most importantly, in the end, we concluded that consolidating the two LivingCenters is the best way to assure residents of Custer County continued access to quality care.

To the extent possible, we will make every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible for our residents, their families and our staff. We value all of our residents and we will explore with each of them, their families, and personal doctors the best future setting for each of them. In all cases, we will continue to provide the highest-level quality care and service to all of our patients at Golden LivingCenter - Sargent until new arrangements have been made for each of them.

We also want to express our gratitude toward our caregivers and the rest of our staff who make sure our residents received quality care every day. We will be meeting with each of them in the coming weeks to discuss various options with them.

We have had the privilege of taking care of some wonderful people, and we've had the opportunity to get to know many of our residents' families and friends. We would like to thank the community for trusting our Golden LivingCenter team to care for these members of the Sargent community.
