(Grand Island, NE)- A traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 80 in Hall County, Nebraska led to the seizure of 10 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine and the arrest of three individuals.
Around 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2003 Nissan Maxima, for failure to signal, near Wood River (mm 297), in Hall County. A second vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Scion, traveling with the Nissan was also stopped. A consent search of both vehicles led to the seizure of 10 lbs. of crystal methamphetamine. The drug was sealed in five separate bags and located in the sidewalls of the Toyota. The crystal meth has a street value estimated at $200,000.
The driver of the Nissan, 18-year-old Ruben Torres of Avondale, Arizona was lodged in the Hall County jail on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to Deliver. The driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Silvestre Garcia-Sanchez, a Mexican National, and a female passenger 21-year-old Connie Sanchez, of Glendale, Arizona were both lodged in the Hall County Jail, each on a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver.
