KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) - A woman shot three times by her ex-husband has recovered from her physical wounds and says she tries not to remember that horrible night in Kearney a year ago.
Buffalo County authorities say Jeannette DeBoer and her then-19-year-old son were terrorized by 39-year-old Jared DeBoer the night of Sept. 9, 2008.
Jared DeBoer taped Jeannette's son, Colby Trofholz, to a chair for more than six hours.
He shot Jeannette DeBoer when she got home, then shot and killed himself.
Jeannette DeBoer says she no longer has any fear of coming home and being hurt. She sold her Kearney house and moved to another town.
She's looking forward in life, not back at her ordeal, saying, "What would be the point of that?"
