WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Law enforcement officers are investigating the shooting of a Sedgwick County sheriff's deputy.
Sedgwick County emergency management officials say the deputy was shot in the chest about noon Monday. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition.
KFDI reports that no other details of the shooting were immediately released.
Officers from several agencies were helping search for what authorities say is a known suspect. An area around McConnell Air Force Base was cordoned off during the search.
Officers surrounded a house, but it wasn't clear if authorities believed the suspect was inside.
