Neb. man imprisoned for sex assaults, escape try

Associated Press - September 30, 2009 10:45 AM ET

SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) - A 21-year-old Scottsbluff man could spend as many as 10 years behind bars in Nebraska for sexually assaulting two little girls and trying to escape jail.

On Tuesday, Joshua Huff was given 58 to 60 months for assaulting the girls, who were ages 5 and 7.

He was sentenced to 20 months-to-60 months for an escape attempt.

A clerk in the Cheyenne County Attorney's Office says the sentences are to run consecutively. Huff will have to register as a sex offender.

He had pleaded guilty to both charges.

Huff was arrested after the children's grandmother reported her suspicions. Authorities say Huff tried to escape jail in November while awaiting trial.
