The Minden Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 19th Annual BANDFEST Saturday, October 17. The parade will begin at 1:00 pm near Minden High School, turn onto scenic Brown Avenue (Hwy 10), then return to the High School. 35 bands are registered - the highest number in Bandfest history. Over 1000 students are expected to participate. 27 bands attended last year's event, and included representation from Adams Central, Kearney Catholic, Hastings St. Cecilia, and Grand Island Central Catholic. Some bands even came from as far away as Ogallala and Hershey.
Marcy Brandt, Executive Director of the Chamber states, "We're very excited to have so many bands attending this year. After 19 years of hosting Bandfest, we have a great crew of volunteers who help things to run smoothly. I think that is part of the reason why we have such a big jump in attendance. We are looking forward to a fantastic day."
Some quotes from past participants: "...my band members always rate the Minden parade high on their list..."; "... a great competition for the students, directors, audience, and judges!"; "The Minden Parade is always my favorite...a worthwhile event "; ".... a very well run marching band competition...."
