What is Osteoarthritis? Osteoarthritis is the type of arthritis involving the cartilage of a joint. Over time the cartilage may become worn as the bony surface of the joint grates against the bone on the other side and eventually it may wear away entirely. This cartilage deterioration is what defines osteoarthritis.
What is a Total Knee Replacement? Total Knee Replacement is a surgical procedure which involves the replacement of the worn-out parts of the knee with an artificial joint. A Total Knee Replacement implies that everything about the joint is being replaced, but is actually a resurfacing of the bones of the joint so that the prosthesis allows the bones to glide against each other and allow the knee to bend and move without pain. Following a successful knee replacement, you should be able to do anything that requires normal walking or activities such as managing stairs, getting into and out of a chair, putting on shoes and socks, etc. This procedure is not meant for sports. Our focus and main purpose for a Total Knee Replacement is to significantly decrease pain and increase mobility.
What kind of insurance do you accept? We accept most major insurance plans and we are providers for Mutual of Omaha, Midland's Choice, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare and CHAMPUS. We accept and file with Workman's Compensation and Nebraska Medicaid.
Where are your satellite clinics located? We have satellite clinics in Superior, Red Cloud, Franklin and Minden in Nebraska as well as in Smith Center and Mankato in Kansas.
