The following is a press release from Murray Natural Health & Chiropractic LLC:

Hastings, NE-  10/12/09  Murray Natural Health & Chiropractic, LLC  has shown through traditional medical testing that Hastings residents are deficient in Vitamin D.  Vitamin D levels were checked on patients from April, 2009 to September, 2009.  Average vitamin D levels of non-supplementing patients were measured at 23.93 ng/ml.  The medical clinical range for this vitamin is at least 32 ng/ml, with an optimal range being between 50-90 ng/ml.  These deficient values were obtained at a time when vitamin D levels should be at their highest due to increased sun exposure.

Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin because it can be obtained through direct sunlight exposure to the skin, has been known to be directly related to bone health.  But new research is constantly emerging linking this vitamin/hormone to a variety of human ailments, including breast cancer, the seasonal flu, and H1N1.  Studies found in the February, 2009 Archives of Internal Medicine and September, 2007 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition journals both confirm the connection between this needed nutrient and seasonal illnesses.  "With seasonal flu and the ominous threat of H1N1 infections, people need to find scientific, valid ways of optimizing their immune systems," says Dr. Christopher Murray, clinic director at Murray Natural Health & Chiropractic.  Direct feedback from patients has also shown Dr. Murray that vitamin D is important to the immune system.  "I have patients that claim they have not had one cold or flu since dealing with their vitamin D deficiency,"  advises Dr. Murray.

Testing a patient's 25 hydroxy vitamin D level is an easy process, involving the drawing of one vile of blood.  The test is inexpensive and can be done at any physician's office where blood is tested.  "This test is simply the best way to determine true vitamin D status," says Dr. Murray.

In addition to vitamin D testing, Murray Natural Health & Chiropractic, LLC offers a variety of diagnostic and laboratory testing to patients.  Through natural, non-invasive methods the clinic strives to help patients obtain and maintain optimal health.
