CHADRON, Neb. (AP) - Jurors are expected to resume consideration of whether Joseph Hotz is guilty of killing his roommate in December.
The murder case went to the jury on Friday. Members are to resume their deliberations on Monday.
Authorities say Hotz stabbed 22-year-old Kenneth Pfeiffer of Sebastian, Fla., to death in December 2008.
Hotz's attorneys say hallucinogenic mushrooms had left him delusional, thinking Pfeiffer was part of a plot to kill him.
But Judge Brian Silverman of Dawes County District Court on Friday ordered the jury not to consider that argument.
Hotz is charged with first-degree murder, but jurors could find him guilty of the lesser crimes, including 2nd-degree murder or manslaughter.
