Learning About Native American Cultures

An area attraction hopes to educate the public about Native American cultures.
Kearney's Great Platte River Archway offers a new kind of educational program Saturday about two separate tribes of the Pawnee Nation, namely the Arikara and the Pawnee.
More than 300 years ago they were fierce warriors as part of the Skiti band which later disbanded, causing the tribes to go their separate ways.
The goal is to reunite the two groups next year during a historical meeting.

"Their history is wonderful, their culture, their connection between the two tribes is incredible, but the most incredible thing is that they're coming together again," says Ronnie O'Brien of the Great Platte River Archway.
Saturday's event was to familiarize people with the histories of the two tribes, and will be held again next in a week.
