A high speed chase starts after a woman is held hostage in Grand Island.
Around 9am Sunday morning, Grand Island Police Sergeant Danny Dubbs said a man armed with a handgun took a female hostage at the Days Inn in Grand Island. From there, he drove her to nearby Tractor Supply on Diers Avenue.
They were there for a while before authorities say they took off on a high speed pursuit through Grand Island at speeds of up to 90-miles-per-hour.
Sgt. Dubbs said the pursuit started on North 281, weaved down Airport Road to Sky Park Road, then turned onto E Capital Avenue. From there, the male suspect turned on to E Hwy 30 and took off towards Columbus. Dubbs said the chase sped up to 110-miles-an-hour plus.
Grand Island police chased him for about ten minutes before Columbus police took over at the Merrick County border.
As of Sunday afternoon, the man was still holding her hostage in Genoa. NTV News will bring you further details on Monday.
