GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - Police say a 32-year-old Columbus man was arrested after he held authorities at bay for more than three hours while holding his estranged wife hostage at a central Nebraska farmhouse.

The standoff happened Sunday afternoon at his stepfather's farmhouse northwest of Silver Creek following a high-speed chased through central Grand Island and three counties.

Jeremy Kudron surrendered to the Nebraska State Patrol and Nance County sheriff's deputies shortly after 1 p.m.

Authorities began searching for Kudron after a report that he had kidnapped his 28-year-old estranged wife, who has a protection order against him.
