After weeks of negotiations, more money is coming to the Holdrege Public Library.
The library's employees were taken off the city's health insurance plan resulting in a $21 thousand hike in premiums.
However, city council recently decided to boost funding by $15 thousand to help make up some
of the difference.
On the county side, the Board of Supervisors originally capped the library's budget at $150
thousand.
But on Tuesday, Phelps County approved another $10 thousand.
The library director said it's a compromise she can live with.
Pam Soreide, the director of the Holdrege Public Library, said, "We can afford our own healthcare and, also, we're anticipating we'll be able to expand our hours somewhat starting in January. I'm sure we'll be able to recover our evening hours at least."
While hours were scaled back, no employees lost their jobs.
