LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) - A Dec. 10 trial date has been scheduled for a woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Leavenworth High School Football Booster Club.
Forty-4-year-old Cheri L. Harper pleaded not guilty this past week in Leavenworth County District Court.
She is accused of stealing money from the parent-run Booster Club in 2007 while serving as the organization's treasurer. She faces one count of felony theft.
Keith Melick testified during her preliminary hearing that he was serving as president of the Booster Club at the same time Harper served as treasurer.
He testified Harper was asked to turn over financial records for the club after it was learned a check from the organization didn't clear.
