In conjunction with National Hunger and Homeless awareness week the Heartland United Way, Crisis Center, Hope Harbor and Salvation Army are planning “Dine United” on, Tuesday, November 17, 2009.

People are encouraged to dine out on November 17, 2009 and a percentage of profits from participating restaurants will be donated to Crisis Center, Hope Harbor and Salvation Army shelters. Participating restaurants are Afternooners, Big Apple Bagels, Dairy Queen, Farmer’s Daughter Café, Little Caesars, Runza, Subway (Webb Road only), Hunans, Bonzai Beach Club - Wave Pizza and Tommy’s Restaurant.

Melissa DeLaet, Hope Harbor Executive Director, said, “Dine United is a wonderful opportunity for our community to get involved in National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week and support our local shelters.”

The 2009 one day homeless surveys indicated on any given day that there are 620 homeless people in Hall and Merrick counties.
