2 Arrested in Grand Island on 2nd Degree Murder Charges

The following is a press release from the Grand Island Police Department:

Grand Island Police are investigating a homicide that occurred shortly before 2:40 a.m. on 2/24/10 near the intersection of South Eddy and West Phoenix Streets. Officers were called to the intersection by a passerby who found the victim lying at the southwest corner of the intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased individual has been identified as Paulo J. Rodriquez, 51-year-old Hispanic male of 918 S. Eddy Street in Grand Island.

Two people have bee arrested in connection with this homicide.

Jeremy Lee Grant, 21-years-old of 918 S. Eddy

Virginia T. Grant, 52-year-olds, also of 918 S. Eddy

The Grants are mother and son and have been confined to the Hall County Corrections on suspicion of 2nd degree murder.

An autopsy is being performed on Mr. Rodriquez today.

Court appearances for both Virginia and Jeremy Grant will be tomorrow morning Hall County Court.

The investigation is on going and no further information is being released at this time.
