A local community celebrates the creation of new families.
Newly adoptive families have a day of fun at Kidzone in Kearney on Saturday, taking part of National Adoption Day.
It's the second year for the celebration in the area, honoring 12 final and 4 pending
adoptions in the Buffalo and Custer County service areas this year.
Officials say it's a happy occasion for both the families and the judicial system.
"This is the day we get everybody together from the past year to basically thank them by opening their hearts and their families to these children, and validating what it is we do all year,"said Buffalo County Court judge Gerry Jorgensen.
National Adoption Day was also celebrated in Grand Island and Hastings.
