What is a "First Shots Seminar"?

First Shots is a educational program from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) that allows local shooting ranges like Heartland Public Shooting Park (HPSP) to partner with the NSSF in offering local opportunities for individuals to learn more about firearms and firearm ownership. At a First Shots seminar, you will get:

  • An educational introduction to the safe, recreational use of handguns, rifles and shotguns.

  • A clear understanding of the local requirements for owning and purchasing a handgun, rifle and shotgun.

  • Individual and group training and shooting range access for continued participation.

  • Shooting sports opportunities for all levels of interest.

If you've ever thought about getting involved in shooting but just didn't know where to even begin, then this is the class you have to take. This program is designed and limited for true novices-curious about the experience of firing and owning a gun.

How much does it cost?

It's a free class where you'll learn all you need to know about the rules and regulations governing ownership, how to safely handle firearms and you'll also get professional training as you take your First Shots at HPSP.

When will First Shots be offered?

HPSP will be offering the First Shots seminar only on May 31, 2008 with three different times. There will be 60-90 minutes of classroom instruction and 90 minutes of range time divided equally between rifle, handgun and shotgun venues.

Class 1. 9AM till 12PM

Class 2. 1PM till 4PM

Class 3. 3PM till 6PM
