This afternoon, Renewable Fuel Technology, Incorporated broke ground in Arapahoe for a new biodiesel processing plant. The new $16 million plant will start construction this week. Once it starts operations, it will produce five million gallons of biodiesel.
With today's announcement, the town is buzzing. Arapahoe Chamber President Cindy Thomas said, "Well, it's bringing lots of excitement to start with. It will bring new employees to town. And it should help the farmers out. And we're just real excited."
People hope the plant will do great things for the community and the local economy. John Hanson, Partner in Fuel Technology said, "I think the main thing is this is going to create an
opportunity for some great jobs here, but it's also going to create an opportunity for energy
right here."
The new biodiesel plant is expected to employ around 20 people and is expected to start operations during this fall's harvest season.
