Bishop Weighs in on Lawsuit Against God

The bishop of the Grand Island Catholic Diocese calls Nebraska Senator Ernie Chambers'
lawsuit against God inappropriate and frivolous.

On October 14th, a Douglas County judge ruled Chambers can't sue God, because he can't serve him papers.

However, Chambers may appeal. He says since God is omnipresentk, He is present in Douglas County and aware of the lawsuit.

Chambers filed the paperwork a year ago.

His goal was to prove that anyone should have access to the courts and that no lawsuit is too
small to get heard.

Church leaders say involving God went a bit too far.

Bishop William Dendinger, of the Grand Island Diocese, says  "I think it's frivolous and irreverant to use that kind of approach.   There are other ways of preventing frivolous lawsuits from coming to court than using god as a scapegoat."

Father Mike McDonald, pastor of the Prince of Peace Church, says "I think I'd just call it silly and
inappropriate and there's more important things that can be done by members of our legislature than frivolous things like this."

Chambers' injunction orders God to stop causing widespread death, destruction and terrorism.

He has 25 days left to file an appeal.
