McCook Teen Killed in Accident

Posted: Updated:

The following is a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office:

18-year-old McCook resident Amy J. Stone was killed in a fatality accident near mile marker 76 on Highway 83 at about 10:50 p.m. on September 3, 2009. When Lincoln County Deputies arrived they found the deceased and two injured males; 19-year-old McCook resident Shannon Funn and 19-year-old North Platte resident Kyle Rollenhagan.

The investigation discovered that Ms. Stone was driving the vehicle southbound on Highway 83 when the vehicle left the west side of the roadway, rolled and Ms. Stone was ejected from the vehicle. The passengers were transported to Great Plains Regional Medical center where Mr. Funn was diagnosed with a broken neck, broken left arm, broken right foot and transported to Kearney. Mr. Rollenhagan was diagnosed with a broken back, treated and released.

Alcohol and drug consumption is suspected to be a major factor in this crash. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts and that probably contributed to the injuries and death.
