A small community celebrates its piece of historical significance.
Lincoln Highway, better known to us as Highway 30, got a little extra attention on Sunday.
It's the 14th annual Lincoln Highway festival, celebrating its rich history of being the first
Trans-continental to go east to west.
Organizers say it's also a great way to get travelers off the beaten track. "I think it's a thing to celebrate the highway," said car show coordinator Cyndy Ryan. "It went through all the small towns all across the United States. You fly down the interstate, don't get to meet the people, it's just nice to see the small town living, that sort of thing."
"I really knew nothing about the Lincoln Highway," said highway traveler Kim Bakker. "When I came into town I saw the sign that said Lincoln Highway celebration, I suspected this is what I was looking at but I wasn't sure, so I got the gas and we came back and checked it out, and now I've learned a little something about the Lincoln Highway."
The brick streets are an original sight of the Lincoln Highway.
Sunday's celebration included a car show, food and wild west shooting.
