A local businessman is honored for his work with children's agencies.

Bill White humbly accepts the Grace Abbott award at a reception in Grand Island tonight.

Tonight's reception is a thank you for White and his late wife for their dedication to helping
children succeed.

While Bill may say he's undeserving, many others say he's a perfect representative.

"Ultimately, in our country there's so many people who just want their picture taken, and they're not usually the ones to get anything done. It's people like Grace Abbott in her day, and Bill and his wife in their day, trying to do things and not get glory for it, this is how things really get achieved," said John Sorenson.

The award was presented on the behalf of the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation and is named after Grand Island's own Grace Abbott.
