A trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C Headquarters in Grand Island who was injured Friday in a crash on Highway 30 has been upgraded from serious to stable condition at a Lincoln hospital.
Jonathan Kroeger, 40, of Dannebrog, was injured when his patrol unit was struck by another vehicle on Highway 30 in Merrick County a little before 11 p.m. Friday.
Kroeger was traveling westbound on Highway 30, four miles west of Silver Creek, when he clocked a speeding eastbound vehicle. Kroeger was making a U-turn to catch up with the speeding vehicle when his 2008 Crown Victoria police unit was struck on the driver's side by a westbound 1997 Chevy Blazer.
Kroeger was transported to a hospital in Central City and then flown by medical helicopter to Bryan-LGHWest in Lincoln with a fractured pelvis.
The driver of the Chevy Blazer, Jeremie Finke, 32, Milligan, was treated and released from Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Kroeger is an 11-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol.
The Merrick County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. The Nebraska State Patrol and the Clarks-Silver Creek Fire and Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
