A collision Monday morning in Grand Island left a 72-year-old resident dead.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition. A name has not been released. The driver of the semi was not injured.

passenger vehicle traveling West on 13th Street collided with a semi driving south on US 281 at 9:39 a.m., knocking out the control box at the intersection. The intersection is currently flashing red lights until the control box can be repaired.

The Grand Island Police Department responded to the call, and Nebraska State Patrol will be performing an accident reconstruction.
