Troy Chandler, the head of Hall County Juvenile Services has resigned.

Hall County board members Steve Schuppan said Dan Purdy confirmed the resignation to NTV on Friday afternoon, but added few details behind Chandler's decision.

Chandler oversaw several programs, including the Juvenile Diversion Program, Minor in Possession Diversion Program, and Offender's Program for those referred by the courts.

He had also overseen the Juvenile Attention Center. Most recently a retired state trooper running a private security firm was contracted to run that center, but the contract was allowed to expire today, February 17.

In March of 2009, Chandler was found with less than an ounce of marijuana, after an anonymous caller asked police to do a welfare check at Chandler's home. However, he was not charged with anything in connection to the case.

County Supervisors would not elaborate much on Chandler's resignation. Dan Purdy said like being a sheriff, running the juvenile program is stressful on employees.
