A 30-year-old homeless man accused of robbing a North Platte convenience store and threatening the clerk with a knife earlier this month has waived his preliminary hearing.

David Traxler appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court Thursday on four felonies and one misdemeanor charge stemming from the Feb. 8 incident.

He's accused of entering the Kwik Stop convenience store at Rodeo Road and Madison Avenue in the early morning hours of Feb. 8 -- wearing a mask and armed with a knife -- and demanding cash from the clerk. Police also say he held a knife up to the clerk's throat.

Traxler then allegedly fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Authorities later spotted him near 9th Street and Carr Avenue, and he was tased after attempting to run.

The knife Traxler allegedly used during the armed robbery, along with the stolen cash, was found in a backpack he was carrying.

Police found the mask they say he was wearing a short time later in a nearby alley.

Traxler is charged with felony robbery, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and being a habitual criminal.

He is being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center on $250,000 bond.

A court date has not yet been determined.
