A new music program offers kids to learn the value of music now and throughout their lifetime.
Working together to the beat of a drum. That's the focus of the Meadowlark "drum circle" after school program as they practice for an upcoming performance.
The program started last fall and immediately gained momentum throughout the school.
"We've learned how to keep the beat, we've learned kinda what it's like to help others," said participant Anthony Vanderbeek. "You depend on others, you're with a lot of people and you get to know them."
"It was funny because I opened it up in first semester and I had 18 kids sign up, I had more kids knocking on my door saying are you gonna let more kids in January," said instructor Angela Wright. "So we reopened it and doubled the size of the group, so I don't forsee this going away."
The drum circle's performance will be April 3rd at the school program. The group is also hoping to play for nursing homes throughout the community.
