A 41-year-old Rockville man has been jailed on sexual assault charges.
Eric Reed was arrested Monday by the Sherman County Sheriff's Office after they investigated the alleged assault.
Reed was convicted of manslaughter in 1993 after confessing to smothering his 7-month-old son, Alexander, the Associated Press reported in 1996.
He reached a plea deal and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Reed was booked in the Valley County Jail in Ord and faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing alcohol for a minor.
He is being held on 10 percent of a $150,000 bond.
Charges have not yet been filed, Sherman County Attorney Mark Eurek said Wednesday.
