A semi didn't just catch fire Monday in the tri-cities, it was turned to smoldering rubble.
The truck was parked at the truck stop on Interstate 80 near Alda when it appears it had an electrical fire.
The state fire marshal's office is investigating, because firefighters say it was an unusual situation. The fire consumed the truck inside and out, even melting the tires.
Wood River and Alda fire departments responded to the call around 11:00 a.m.
Firefighters told NTV the driver was either going to get the truck serviced or had just had it serviced. The driver was apparently walking around the truck doing an inspection when he spotted the fire.
No one was injured. The truck was a total loss.
