UPDATE: GI Mayor Released from Hospital - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek has been released from the hospital after being admitted Tuesday night.

Vavricek was released from St. Francis Medical Center Wednesday afternoon. He was admitted by his wife Janet around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with what was described as chest pain trauma.

Vavricek is resting and awaiting test results, according to a press release from the City of Grand Island.

Vavricek will continue to serve as mayor, and the city will operate as if he were on vacation or out of town, the press release says.
