First the Nebraska State Fair moved west, now it reaches for the sky with construction of a new attraction.
Electrical work is underway to install the new sky tram at the state fairgrounds. They have to remove light poles and then come the footings.
Then they'll install support columns and the ride itself.
It's all in an effort to build on the success of the last two years.
Executive Director Joseph McDermott said, "I think we need to continue to innovate, find ways to provide new products, new excitement to fairgoers. We certainly want to keep them interested. They've been great supporters of the fair here in Grand Island and central Nebraska and we're going to do everything we can to make sure they stay that way, that they're completely satisfied."
Only a handful of fairs have sky trams. It will be built in front of the barns at the fairgrounds.
