Police have released the name of a 58-year-old woman who was killed Monday after her motorcycle was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 80 near Hall County.

Nancy Hermanson, 58, Lincoln, died at an area hospital Monday after Kathy Teichmeier, 34, of Almena, Kansas, allegedly hit her and her husband's motorcycles after making a U-turn.

Teichmeier is behind bars and will be charged with felony motor vehicle homicide, police say.

The accident occurred on I-80 around mile marker 315 just after 4 p.m.

Officials say Teichmeier was driving eastbound on I-80 with her five children, ages 8 to 13,  when she suddenly made a U-turn at an emergency crossing just east of a rest area. Two motorcycles, being driven by Hermanson and her husband, were in the left passing lane behind Teichmeier's car, with one motorcycle about 30 feet ahead of the other.

Teichmeier allegedly struck the first motorcycle -- being driven by Hermanson's 60-year-old husband -- on the rear wheel, but he was able to gain control and was uninjured. His name has not yet been released.

The second motorcycle, being driven by Hermanson, then struck the driver side rear door of Teichmeier's car, ejecting Hermanson.

Hermanson was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.

Hermanson and her husband were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Teichmeier and her children were all wearing seatbelts. Four of the children sustained minor injuries. They were transported to St. Francis Medical Center and later released.

Teichmeier is being held at the Hall County Department of Corrections. She had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on no proof of financial responsibility out of Custer County.

The children were released to a friend of the family. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
