For the 4th of July holiday many Nebraskans enjoy shooting fireworks or relaxing on the lake...one of the essentials is bringing the food.
Local grocery stores prepared for the rush of shoppers needing those last minute items.
For them they say holidays like this is a mini-economic boost and that they try to be prepared for all of the shopper's needs. Especially on this very hot holiday.
"Very good for the store on these days," said Boogaarts store manager Evan Smith.
And keeping the aisles stocked as items are flying off the shelves.
"We know it's going to be crazy. We just try to prepare for it the best way we can," said Smith.
For some campers at Fort Kearny getting the essential is all they need.
"We decided to go simile, hotdog and hamburgers," said Mike Lamkin from Kearney.
Ice was the top seller.
