Break out the pie servers. The Piccadilly Players are bringing the musical comedy "Church Basement Ladies" to Grand Island in July with the proceeds benefiting the Stuhr Museum Foundation. Performances of this crowd pleasing show will be July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at the Grand Island Senior High little theater.
"Church Basement Ladies" focuses on a dedicated group of four women who manage to run the kitchen of a Lutheran church in "small town" Minnesota in the 1960s. The women work with their pastor to prepare the food for the annual Lutefisk Dinner, the funeral dinner of a faithful church volunteer, an Easter Fund Raiser and a wedding of one of the women. Laughs are served as the women battle disasters, change routines and plans, discuss small town stories and, of course, cater to the audience while singing and laughing.
The cast includes Linda Adler, Jeanette Benson, Wendy Carlson, Hannah Benson and Dave Hulinsky and is directed by Mark Gloor and Norbert "Skeeter" Wenzl. Suzanne Philippi is Music Director, Marti Sanchez serves as Choreographer and the show is produced by Jeannee Mueller Fossberg.
All proceeds will benefit the living history, education and preservation programs of Stuhr Museum through the Stuhr Museum Foundation, which is very grateful for the support.
The shows will run at 7:30 p.m. July 13, 14, 20 and 21 and at 2 p.m. July 15 and 22. Seating for "Church Basement Ladies" will be limited so advanced ticket sales are encouraged. Tickets are $10 and are available at Skagway North, Skagway South and Ace Hardware and Garden Center. For more information, contact Fossberg at (308) 379-2015.
