Update: Alcohol Involved in Semi-Car Accident - KHGI-TV/KWNB-TV/KHGI-CD-Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings

Tuesday, details have been released regarding a semi-car accident that took place Monday sending two victims to the hospital.

State Patrol confirmed that the driver of the car, 26-year-old Mike Lastra and his passenger, 23-year-old Jessica Lawless of Grand Island were sent to Good Samaritan Hospital in serious condition after the accident.

Both the car and the semi were traveling westbound on I-80 when the car lost control, struck the median, overcorrected and drove underneath the semi's trailer.

State Patrol confirmed that Lastra was intoxicated at the time of the accident and has been cited for DUI.

The driver of the semi, an out of state man, 28-year-old Tim Hunt was uninjured.
