Budget talks can't stop an airport that's ready for take-off.

The Central Nebraska Regional Airport plans to build a new terminal to accommodate higher passenger numbers flying to Dallas, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

A terminal might cost eight or nine million dollars. The airport may issue bonds to pay for it.

In terms of operating expenses, they are not asking for more money from Hall County.

County Board Chair Pam Lancaster tried to put that into context, saying, "Anyone who's asking for the same amount as last year, in a sense that's a cut because as we know, cost of employees, cost of health insurance, cost of insurance in general, those costs have gone up."

The airport presented its budget report to the county on Monday. The new terminal was the highlight, but that project is likely still a few years away.
