Nebraska wrote the book on how to build a 21st century state fair. The livestock barns are second to none and exhibition building is sold out once again, which is why they'd like
another.

Board Member Tam Allan said, "There's still one other building we're going to build."

And it may bring back a feature the Nebraska State Fair has been missing.

"A whole permanent area for Game and Parks not only could be featured during the fair but possibly utilized other times during the year for Game and Parks," Allan said.

The Sky Tram was supposed to be the big new addition, but some of the equipment was destroyed in an accident on the way to Grand Island.

Even if they're not able to complete that Sky Tram in time for the fair, there are other new attractions, like the setup for the first ever Nebraska Lineworkers Rodeo and they are nearing completion of an RV park.

Allan said, "The RV park is almost three-quarters completed." But some of it remains as a primitive camping area.

With or without the Sky Tram, fair leaders think they've got one of the best fairgrounds anywhere.

Tam Allan said, "Our primary goal from the time we moved it here is to provide the best fairgoer experience for people who come through the gates and also our exhibitors and that will always remain our top goal."

You need more than buildings to create a good experience, it takes people. The fair is fortunate in those respects, with 767 volunteers signed up to help.
