Deborah Pittman, 58, a former
resident of Arnold and Broken Bow, Nebraska, was sentenced to five years probation on August 13,
in Lincoln, Nebraska.
United States District
Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced Pittman for trafficking in counterfeit goods. Besides her five years probation, Pittman was also ordered to serve 100 hours of community service and pay a fine of $25,000.
Pittman
was a self-employed owner of a business called Classic Coyote, with a
storefront location in Arnold, Nebraska, from 2007 to 2011. In February
2010, agents of Homeland Security Investigations, Department of Homeland
Security, purchased items from Classic Coyote which were later determined to be
a counterfeit Kate Spade purse and a counterfeit Coach watch.
The
following April, agents seized over 1000
counterfeit items and 600 counterfeit labels. The counterfeit
items included purses, watches, wallets, belts, hats, scarves, and sunglasses,
all of which Pittman will forfeit to the United States as a result of the
conviction.
This
case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security.
