Ready or not, the school bell will ring tomorrow at Buffalo Hills Elementary and it is the first time the doors will open to the student body.

"[I'm most excited about] having the big new school, and having new teachers," said Kyan Nickel, fourth grader.

Now while some students are excited about the new school, new teachers, lockers, or even just getting adjusted to their new classroom, some are excited about the relief the new school will bring.

"It's a new school, and it's bigger than Riverdale; so, [I'm] excited about that," said Taylor Buddecke, fourth grader.

The opening of the new school will aid with overcrowding at other elementary schools which will be beneficial to your child's education.

"With a with a smaller population, it makes it so much easier for teachers to have that 1-on-1 connection; and while we're not so crowded in the classroom, they get more time to explore, share supplies, and have more fun in school," said Beki Leak, after school coordinator.

Now that K-5 schools will be less crowded, the district will now focus on planning ahead. Some school leaders think overcrowding is quickly approaching and will soon effect secondary schools.

"Our high school is outdated and it is going to be too small.  With so many elementary schools and one high school, there is no way all of them will fit in that one school. It's not going to happen," said Leak.

Superintendent Brian Maher is well aware and will be addressing that issue with others.

"When our fourth graders become 9th graders, our high school will be a burden with the same enrollment we've seen in our elementary schools. Between now and 5 years from now, we got some issues to take care of as far as new construction," said Maher.
